Patient Care Facility: Patient Rooms

A typical room at the Patient Care Facility. Patients are encouraged to bring personal effects to make their room as comfortable as possible. Note that despite the appearance, the patient bed is a fully functional hospital bed. Fixtures and furniture at all PCHCV facilities are chosen to create a "homelike," non-institutional appearance.

Each patient room is equipped with cable television and VCR or DVD player. Patients and family members are encouraged to fill the other shelves with personal effects like photos, books, movies, even stuffed animals — items that make the room seem more like home. Other amenities in each patient room include an alarm clock, phone, ceiling fan, and pull-out chair/bed for visiting loved ones.

Staff and volunteers often decorate patients' rooms for holidays and special occasions, like the winter cutouts on the closet door. Also decorated for holidays are patients' bulletin boards. Patients, family and visitors can post special photos, greeting cards, calendars, etc.
